Project Overview
Tiempo Software was approached by Greater Omaha Packing in Omaha, Nebraska, to create a customized software solution that would streamline their logistical operations. The application was designed to support critical workflows across multiple departments—Security, Transportation, and Shipping. Built on the robust Django framework, the application was deployed internally to handle data-heavy, real-time processes on an accessible and secure platform.
Key Objectives & Solutions
The project was initiated with the goal of enhancing tracking, transparency, and coordination of driver, truck, and trailer management at the plant:
- Secure Check-In/Check-Out: Designed for the Security team, the system allowed guards to efficiently log trucks, drivers, and trailer movements through a user-friendly interface on iPads. The application enabled real-time visibility and tracking for vehicles entering and exiting the facility, streamlining security procedures.
- Order & Load Management: Through direct integration with various internal systems, Tiempo Software developed tools that enabled the Transportation department to assign orders to specific loads seamlessly. By automating order imports and tying orders to specific trailers, the application minimized manual tracking efforts and reduced errors in dispatch.
- Load Coordination for Shipping: The Shipping department used the application to track trailer locations and driver availability, coordinating loading schedules with warehouse staff. This functionality allowed for optimized trailer loading, improving the speed and accuracy of the shipping process.
- Integration with McLeod TMS: To meet the plant’s broader logistics requirements, Tiempo Software integrated the application with McLeod TMS. This integration allowed the application to import essential data from McLeod for reporting and invoice generation. Our solution served as a crucial bridge between systems, ensuring consistent data flow for order management, invoicing, and external communications.
Additional Enhancements
In parallel, Tiempo Software was commissioned to develop performance-tracking features for operations management. These tools captured departmental downtimes and production metrics, allowing departments to monitor chain speeds, calculate efficiencies, and generate detailed reports.

The custom-built application provided a scalable, secure, and centralized solution, greatly reducing manual processes and improving real-time visibility. By serving as an integration hub across different systems, Tiempo Software’s solution enhanced data reliability and significantly streamlined logistical workflows across departments.
